Noticed this small group of Ant scouts making their way across the garden. While they were heading in a formation as ants do, they were occasionally scattering to check on things of interest before reforming the line as can be noticed in third photo. On hindsight, I could have checked if the formation had a “leader’ and if members had any sort of approximate positions they retained when reforming the lines. They did this multiple times indicating this to be a SOP. I’m still left wondering on the need for such a disciplined formation. Only the need for defending scouts against attack by rival groups makes any sense.
Considering ants outweigh us on earth when added together, we may have a lot to learn from them, specially on team building front :-)
