Very good explanation of why market behavior is counterintuitive. Also makes a good case for why markets function best when major players don’t or can’t impact proceedings.

Creative Play
The idea of creative play as conducive to learning, or even formal education, is an article of faith at Lego that goes back to its founder, who defended his decision to become a toymaker during the Great Depression by pointing out that all animals use play to develop their brains Source -Businessweek

Age of Surplus
Human race seems to be rapidly approaching a phase where our civilization will produce and provide for basic needs at a cost so insignificant there will be nobody left below poverty line. We are at least couple of decades (or more) away from being near this phase. Scientific and technological breakthroughs in labs around the world have already planted seeds for this to occur. Engineering phases...

Spotted a worm using the same technique as the snail, i.e using a secreted strand as a rope to travel vertically. But the worm was going up! Not sure how the strand came about, as I’ll find it hard to imagine the worm being capable of somehow creating / shooting a 12 feet long vertical strand working against gravity. Can only assume the worm found a strand abandoned by a snail, and decided...

Found the above quote somewhere on the Internet. No idea who came up with it or why, but is very relevant to current situation in Libya. The Internet has even made a appropriate image to go with the saying People rising up against tyrants to build a future for themselves is always good news, and successful uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt are commendable. They are good examples of how democracy...

Baba need not be a Gandhi
Our nation is obsessed with finding a modern day Gandhi to lead the fight against corruption. Any enterprising individual’s initiative is expected to be replica of the Mahatma’s spirit before he is deemed worthy enough to lead such a endeavor. But there is a dark side to Mahatma Gandhi too. His sleeping naked with young girls, his stubborn refusal to allow his wife the of use animal...
